So last Thursday we went to Las Vegas for a friend’’s wedding (which was on Saturday). We had such a fab time. Pics are posted in our gallery, by the way. We saw the Blue Man Group and the Amazing Jonathon. We went up in the Stratosphere Tower, shopped till we dropped, we ate wonderful food, visited with friends, drank awesome 52 oz. pina coladas out of plastic football containers, and shared yards of margaritas… And then we had the taxi drivers. Entertaining and fun. Most of them were women (although one woman cabbie said that there were few women cabbies in vegas, go figure).
And the wedding itself was unbelievable. Being married by the undead was certainly original! I loved it! The coffin, the cemetery background, the fog. The most original wedding I’‘ve attended yet!
I have come to love las vegas. I’‘ve been every year for the past three years. I think I’‘ll try to go as often as we can. I still don’‘t think I’‘ve seen it all! I guess there’’s always next year!

A couple more entries from the editing arena:
Over a year ago, while assisting in the process of looking for a broad experienced IT manager with broad experience, I was involved in the interviewing and selecting which eventual lead to hiring what was at the time we thought a good fit.
Right… and this paragraph was even more bizarre. How does XML have virtues?
XML has the virtue of subscribing to formal document descriptions that really nail down syntax, structure, and content. Although it has been used as much or more for text-oriented documents as for many kinds of record-structured data, it is far easier to formalize and document data than document structures in many cases. The qualities of XML explain why designing data-driven XML is both easy and rewarding. Here, I’ll try to explain how and why this is so.
Another thing that’’s bugging me today. Defibrillator’’s for the home? Isn’‘t that dangerous? What if some kid gets a hold of one?

Well. The weekend wasn’‘t extremely eventful. Or maybe it was. For those who haven’‘t heard, I have been diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and I’‘ve been placed on a couple of new meds. Started doses on Friday, and I can say that the one is killing my appetite (my doctor said it might). But this is a good thing. Eating less is good.
Saturday, we went to the family birthday party (it was my mom’’s birthday, my brother-on-law’’s birthday, and my future sister-in-law’’s birthday). Nice dinner. Cake. Presents.
Then we went to a friend’’s chili cookoff party. Tons of food, but I ate only two spoons of my own chili and a few bites of the dessert I made. Yay meds. I think….
We also watched the new Jackass movie. Actually, parts of it, I couldn’‘t watch. Especially the last bit. I had to go out into the hall to avoid it. Ick. Not even close to being funny. At all…
Sunday we had a huge storm and Dave and I ended up in the basement with the dog, a radio, our laptop, candles, and a flashlight. Luckily the power never went out. But it was sure nasty outside…
And now it’’s Monday. and I’‘m tired. And I have been thinking too much lately. The state of the world. How I feel about my job/career. My diagnosis. My grandfather being sick in the hospital and not doing well… A lot on my mind.

On another blog site that I sometimes peruse, I found the link to the Googlism page. Apparently you can put in any search word (name, company, favorite noun) and see what Google can dig up in its search. Then Google lists the word you searched for along with a brief listing of what it found in reference to it. It’’s fun. And a bit creepy.
Here’’s my Googlism.
Here’’s Dave’’s Googlism.
And here’’s Pebbles’’ Googlism.
I think I could sit and do this all day… I wonder what will come up if I search for my company’’s name? hmmmm…
Now someone is finally picking up on one of my college rituals… We used to dance forever to our fave punk and alternative rock music. It was a great workout… Now they’‘re doing it for real at CBGB. And using bricks for weights. This is my favorite quote from the article:
“Never will a J. Lo dance tune or a perky instructor’s command of “work those buns” shatter the anti-glam experience.”
Gotta love that!

Let’’s categorize this under “obvious statement of fact.” I’‘d say this was a definite, “duh!” and thus not a good first sentence to start off an article:
Datebases contain the lifeblood of a business (the data), so accessing and working with the data is important.
I just realized that I haven’‘t posted anything in awhile. I’‘ve been very busy at work. And Halloween just crept up on me. I was handing out candy last night and realized that for the first time in years, I didn’‘t buy or carve a pumpkin! Somehow Halloween (my favorite holiday) was a bust for me. Although I did win a gift certificate at work for the best Halloween themed door decoration.
Yay!
