he loves me…

Filed under: General — kim @ 4:33 pm

It’’s Christmas eve. And I’‘m kinda sick. I got some bug. I don’‘t think it’’s the flu. I’‘m actually feeling a bit better right now. I haven’‘t been so sick that I lay in bed and sleep all the time. It’’s more of the sniffles a bit and feeling kinda tired.

Dave and I worked on drywall yesterday. Today he pretty much finished the first coat of drywall in the master bedroom. We hope to finish that room and move our stuff into it in the next couple of weeks. Dave worked all morning on the electrical work in there, too. He’’s soooo sweet.

For Christmas, he searched high and low and found and purchased for me an awesome silver Return To Tiffany necklace. I LOVE it. He also got me some cute prints for my new bathroom, and the new Barenaked Ladies CD. It’’s been quite a Christmas so far. And it’’s also SNOWING. A white Christmas. How awesome.

I’‘ve had a couple of cool inspirations for our new bedroom and the livingroom/dining room areas. I cannot wait to get to decorate and pull it all together. It’’s gonna look great… eventually. In my mind… I can tell. But if you look at things right now, you might wonder how… Just trust me. :)

I”m a slacker

Filed under: General — kim @ 8:31 am

Yeah. I’‘m a slacker. I haven’‘t posted in sooooo long. So here goes.

We’‘ve moved into our house. It’’s definitely a work in progress. We’‘ve learned to not be shocked at the crazy, dangerous “fixes” we find behind walls and in ceilings that the previous owner left behind. Such things as ceiling lights strung together with speaker wire, holes cut in the walls (and through the brick) to hold his air conditioners were cut directly through the studs (with no supports to replace the cuts) and were “insulated” with old plastic cypress mulch bags. We’‘ve found extension cords run through the walls with huge burn marks in them (why this house is actually still standing, we aren’‘t sure). It’’s a good thing we’‘ve replaced the heating (with a nice furnace), the air conditioning (we have central air now and have filled in the holes in the house—we even have new brick!), the plumbing (just a few more pipes, and we’‘ll have it all fixed up), and the electric (Dave’’s been working on that, but taking it one room at a time).

I’‘ve spent the past few weeks cooped up in the house with various contractors here working. It’’s not been horrible, but it can be a bit boring at times. It’’s really kind of odd to not be working somewhere. I don’‘t think I really miss the work, but sometimes I miss the people. Well, some of the people.

Also, this weekend, my family is coming over to celebrate Christmas. So I’‘ve been trying to get the house into some kind of order. We still live out of boxes (until we get new carpet and paint the walls, we don’‘t think we should really totally unpack everything, plus… the basement had the ceiling ripped out and with all the heating/air work done down there, it’’s kind of dirty still, so things that are supposed to go into the basement are still crammed upstairs and in the garage). But we did finally put up our Christmas tree and some lights. I hung a few things on the walls (I was getting tired of seeing bare walls). And things are starting to feel a bit more homey.

Well that’’s my report for the day.

I’‘ll try to write more soon.
