Icky sicky

Blech. I''ve been taking Zicam and vitamins and staying away from sick people. But somehow it still caught up with me. I caught the coughing flu like crud. I''ve been sort of sick since Friday, but really started feeling bad on Sunday and Monday. Today I''m actually feeling a bit better, although my voice sounds horrid and I can''t really breathe out of my nose.

This past weekend my niece and nephews came to stay with me. I think they had fun, but they were supposed to be here only 24 hours, but the ice storm kept us here until yesterday afternoon. I could tell they were bored and missed their mom. Oh, and I think Dave was all too ready to get back to work. I told him it was good practice to have kids around, but I think three kids was a bit too much for him. Especially since they couldn''t go outside or anything. We had to try to keep them entertained... which luckily Pebbles helped out with. :) I''m so glad she likes chasing flashlights... Katie had fun making her pounce and jump. It was entertaining for us all.

Today I''ve finished my second Nora Roberts book The Key of Knowledge. I need to go buy the third and final book now. I like reading when I''m sick. I feel better about just lying around when I have a book in my hand instead of a TV remote. Even if it is just a kind of mystery/romance novel. ;)

Updates and such

Posted by kim at 7:01 pm on January 21, 2004

Yeah. I know. I don''t post very regularly. But here''s the scoop so far. I''m NOT pregnant. I went back to my fertility doctor today (my reproductive endocrinologist at University OB/GYN). On day 6 of my next cycle, I will need to have my uterus examined via ultrasound to make sure there are no scars or anything present. If all is ok, we will move on to the HCG shots, ultrasound of my egg follicles, and eventually to the AI again. It worked before. We just hope it will work again, only sooner. Also, I must start taking my clomiphene on day 5 of my next cycle... which if you don''t remember from before makes me highly irritable, moody, and gives me hot flashes and night sweats! Woohoo. Sign me up... again.

For Christmas Dave bought me a trashy novel (part one of a series!) to read when I''m bored. It''s not exactly amazing literature, but I''ve found it highly entertaining. I''m nearly finished. It''s called Key of Light by Nora Roberts. I think I''ll buy the second book tomorrow....

That about covers my most recent news. Dave and I have been working on the house more. I painted the vanity in the bathroom. And the trim in the bedroom. We need to fix the tile in the master bath and find some new carpet and have it installed... and then we can move our bed into the master bedroom. But as you can tell, we''re taking our time. We''re just burning out from all the work to be done here. I think it''s gonna take us a very loooooong time to get things beautiful around here. For right now, things are liveable. And that''s good enough.

Me (in a nutshell)

Posted by kim at 9:40 pm on January 13, 2004

I''m an ENTJ

According to the personality test, I''m an extraverted, intuitive, thinking, judging type person. I found this page that explains the temperament of ENTJs and I think it rather sounds like me. Kind of cool, and yet, kind of scary. I guess I don''t sit down and think about my temperament that often. But reading this description makes me realize that I can be a quite intense person.

I''ll have to get Dave to take the test too. I wonder what his type is... hmmm.....

A Special Love

I was perusing the Engrish.com web site and found this shirt. I don''t know. It''s not the funniest one there, but for some reason, I like it. :)

In a funk

Posted by kim at 9:23 am on January 10, 2004

Just a few more days and I will know whether I''m pregnant again or not. I''m very scared... I want it so bad, but I don''t know what I''ll do if I''m not. See, I was supposed to be due on January 19, so I thought maybe if I''m pregnant again before then, it won''t be so difficult for me to live through the rest of this month. I''ve had my moments off and on all month. Feeling down and sad. Sometimes worse than others. I just haven''t quite been able to feel celebratory for the new year. Dave keeps saying this year is going to be good for us. I am trying to believe him. But sometimes I still have that creeping doubt...

In response to a posting on another blog

furtive explorations

On my friend Mark''s blog, DFA posted a rant about not being able to find a decent alarm clock that isn''t as bright as the corona of the sun in your dark bedroom at night. My solution has been to turn the alarm clock''s face toward the wall and away from my face. There is usually a slight reflection, but it''s much better than having it blink and glare at me all night, plus the speaker on mine is at the back anyway, so I definitely HEAR it when I wake up.

Just offering a suggestion.
:)

Dream Spiral blue

Posted by kim at 4:09 pm on January 5, 2004

I''ve been painting our master bedroom. Finally. We have all new electrical run in there and now I''ve painted it Dream Spiral... it''s a deep blue with a hint of purple to it. I said it was kind of periwinkle, but Dave says no.

Tonight Dave and I had dinner at Yang Kee Noodle at Oxmoor with friends. They have this one noodle dish there called Firecracker Chicken that is just awesome. Most of their dishes are between $5.99 and $8.00 and you get a huge bowl of noodles (they have some rice dishes too). So I highly recommend it. Oh, and the steamrolls there are great too.

I had a decent holiday. Was sick through Christmas. But got some decent gifts. :) For New Year''s, Dave and I went to James''s yearly party. It was great fun. I played DD and Dave got pretty schnookered. But we had a great time.
