absolutely beautiful

Days like today are perfect. It's sunny, breezy. Blue blue sky. I've been out on the deck painting my cabinet doors. So I brought my laptop out with me. I wish every day could be so nice... but maybe I'm weird... I think this is good sleeping weather. Open all the windows... stretch out on the bed by the window. Feel the breeze as you drift off for a nap. Guess that's why Zack is napping so well right now. We were supposed to go meet new friends at the play area of the mall today, but she ended up having to do something else. So maybe we'll meet later or tomorrow. If I don't hear from her this afternoon, I may have to take Zack to the park or something. Maybe even just to go for a walk. It's too nice to stay indoors all day. Plus, we need more exercise anyway! :D

Need some *ME* time!

Posted by kim at 8:10 pm on September 21, 2006

Dave was in New Jersey from Sunday through Tuesday night. And tonight he's in class until 9:30. I'm just about to go nuts. I haven't had more than an hour of time to myself in days. I just want to be able to do something alone. Just me. But I probably won't get to do that. *sigh* There's so much to do on the house--I want to finish the kitchen before my candle party next month. And my cabinets still aren't all painted yet. But I just need to take some time... I wish I could. I need a mental health day... if only it were as easy as calling in sick...
Yesterday Zack scared me so bad. He had gone down the hall toward his room, so I went out on the back deck to throw out some trash. I'd left the door partially open, but before I could get back to the back door, Zack shut it and locked the deadbolt. It was 10 am, I had on a skimpy tshirt and sleep shorts--luckily I'd put on a bra after my shower, I just hadn't gotten dressed for the day yet. I ran around the house trying to find a door/window that was open. And of course, there wasn't one. I ran to one neighbors house, ringing their doorbell over and over. I'd just seen them pull in minutes before, so I knew they were home, but they wouldn't answer. So I ran across my yard (we have an acre yard, so it seemed like it took forever to run, and I wiped out in the wet grass and skinned my leg and banged up my knee) to the other neighbor's house. He finally answered the door and I explained what happened. He gave me the phone and I called Dave at work--luckily Dave works just 10 minutes or so from here, so it didn't take him very long to sprint to the parking garage and drive home. I went back to our back door and knocked and Zack came running. He stayed at the door laughing at me as I tried to get him to unlock the door. I really don't think he realized that I couldn't get it. He just always sees me locking the doors, so I guess he just did like momma and locked it. I was sitting there crying thinking how awful a mom I was... but Zack was ok. Dave got home and let me in. I was so scared and shaking. But I calmed down and felt a little better when he told me how some of the guys at work had been through the same thing with their kids. Even my mom told me about how my brother had done that to her and she had to climb in the window. So I guess I'm not such a bad mom. But the neighbor called today to offer to keep an extra house key for us--just in case. :) It's good to have nice neighbors.

slacker

Posted by kim at 4:34 pm on September 17, 2006

I slacked last week. Not much blog posting. Sorry about that. We actually had a sort of crazy week. We got home from vacation, then Dave went right back to work. We had his truck in the shop on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Then we found out Chili was moving to Cali, so Wednesday evening there was a rushed "going away" dinner for him at Sapporo. Thursday night, Dave had class and then on Friday, I went out shopping with Natalie and that night went to visit my sister. Saturday, we went to Huber Farms for Dave's company picnic, and that afternoon, Zack and I went to Seneca park and he got to play while I visited with my friends Tam & Cyn and their babies. Then, later Saturday night, Dave and I dropped by his friend Adam's party (while the amazingly wonderful Keli sat for a sleeping Zacky) for a few hours. This morning (Sunday) I got up, did a ton of laundry, helped Dave get packed, then sent Dave off to NJ for work, then Zack and I went to a birthday party at my friend Shannon's house for her daughter Kierstin who is 1.

whewwww. I'm tired now. Can't wait to get Zack off to bed later. Then I'm gonna crash.:D

Home from Gatlinburg

Posted by kim at 12:19 pm on September 12, 2006

We were in Gatlinburg, TN for 5 days with my parents. We had such fun. Dave and Dad played golf while Mom and I shopped (with Zack). We stayed in a great condo that was waaaaaaay up the mountain. We didn't realize how far the winding road would take us--guess we should have figured when the name of the condo complex was The Summit. ;)

Our condo had *the* most beautiful view of downtown Gatlinburg. Especially at night. The lights twinkled in the valley below. And in the morning, the sun rose over the "smoky" mountains around us. We could see the Tram to Ober Gatlinburg climb the mountain below us--that's how high up we were.

We climbed up to Clingman's Dome. The hike was tiring and my legs are still sore. We went to the Ripley's Aquarium, which Zack loved, again. And we went to WonderWorks where Dave and I got to lay on a bed of nails. Trust me, it was cool.

Now we're home. I'm exhausted. I have so much laundry to do, but I've been putting it off. Guess I should go start on it soon. :)

In LOVE with my Clarks “Privo” shoes!

Posted by kim at 2:25 pm on September 1, 2006

privo sandalI was at Oxmoor with Natalie and the kiddos were in their strollers and she parked at Von Maur and so I walked down there with her before we left and I *HAD* to go into the clearance shoe room there. Natalie had never been into the Clearance shoe room, and maybe I should never have shown her the wonderful magical room. We tried on all sorts of shoes while Zack and Lydia babbled to themselves, each other and anyone in the room who would listen.

Natalie bought a cool pair of brown flip-flop type sandals--dressier with a cute flower on them and they looked good with her jeans. But *I* found the ultimate deal... marked down to $18 from $75... my new pink and grey Clarks. They look like athletic sandals. The sole is like a sneaker, but they have cut-out open parts. But the insole... it's squishy gel-like sole feels so good on my feet. I didn't want to take them off. They look like these, only dark pink. The guy who retrieved the mate to the pair (they only put out single shoes to try on) said it was the absolute last pair they had. I have them on now. I don't want to take them off. It's almost as if they massage my feet. I'm in love. :D And I highly recommend the clearance shoe room at Von Maur. Always some great deals in that place!
