Zack and Lola got so many toys. I feel like I’ve been buried in toys. My living room will not be the same. Ever. It now houses a small kitchen, a Little Superstar Sing A Long Stage, tons of play food, a train set (as if he needed another one!), a shopping cart, a giant Care Bear, a Cars racetrack, holiday Weebles, two baby dolls, and many other items strewn about. They had a wonderful Christmas, though. And I just enjoyed seeing how excited they were with their new gifts. Even Lola loved opening presents—although she liked it because she could try to eat the paper!
Dave has already taken down the Christmas lights outside. I think later today I will take down the tree. I dread packing up the ornaments… because I love them and hate seeing them put away AND because it’s just a tedious process. But I do really love having a tree up. Maybe I could make it work and decorate it for the seasons? What could I do to that tree for President’s day? Hmmmm. lol
We got elfed. It’s a family thing.
And so silly.
I stumbled upon the link to the Pioneer Woman Cooks on a mom’s board I belong to. Perusing the site, I found this recipe. OMG… it sounds so wonderful. I can’t make it just for me and Dave, though. We’d eat the whole thing. Maybe I’ll make it for Christmas. Yum… I’m gonna have dreams about this cake. The pictures look sooooo tantalizing.
At her 6 month checkup, Lola was 26 1/2” tall and weighed 18 lbs. 13 oz. She’s my big girl! On Friday, she finally learned to crawl. She’s been all over the place and pulling garland and lights off the tree. She sits up to play and even pulls herself up on her knees when she’s at a table or the chair. She’s going to be pulling up soon and walking too. I just know it. She LOVES her walker—she can really truck it around the house in that thing.
Our bathroom still isn’t finished. We’re still living in the guest room. It won’t be complete now until after Christmas. sigh I’m still bummed. But I’ll get over it.
I hope everyone has a very happy holiday season. Ours will be wonderful! Both of our kids are amazing and having our first Christmas with them both will be the best!
We’ve been sleeping in the guest room for more than a week now. It kinda sucks. The master bathroom has been gutted and is on its way being rebuilt. But slowly. They originally quoted us “8 or 9 days” and of course they didn’t mean “consecutive days work” and to be honest, they’ve only been here working for a total of 5 days so far. But it’s enough to make me insane.
As I type this, there are three plumbers in my house. Dave threw in a couple of extra jobs for them to do while they are here working on the master bathroom (namely, replacing the old cast-iron pipe in the basement before we put in a new ceiling down there). To do all this “extra” work, they have cut a hole in Lola’s bedroom wall, then realized it wasn’t the right spot, so they cut another one. (Yes, they will fix the drywall, but for now, I can’t use her room because all her furniture has been pushed to one side, so she’s sleeping in the pack-n-play that is squeeezed next to the bed in the guestroom—and I mean SQUEEEZED in.) They toilet has been dismantled in the main bathroom, and the master bathroom is still just a shell of a room—studs and boards and insulation. Which left me with the cruddy 1/2 bath near the office to use today. I had to give Lola a bath in the kitchen sink. And just when I thought it couldn’t possibly get any worse, they tell me they have to turn the water off to the WHOLE HOUSE for awhile. Can’t really tell me when it will be back on. sigh And I’m stuck here with two young kiddos, trying to make the best of it.
And to top it off, Lola and I both have a cold. I took her to the doctor today for her 6 month checkup (Holy Cow, I can’t believe she’s 6 months old already) and the doctor said it’s just in her head, not in her chest. But she also got shots today, so she’s kinda cranky and teething on top of it all.
I got Lola down for a nap and Zack is in his room (supposed to be napping, but with all the noise going on, I wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t nap at all). And then I settled down to fix myself a nice cup of tea and rest a bit. Yeah, no tea…. because I have NO WATER!
And on top of it all, I haven’t slept well in days because the guest bed isn’t comfy—and is too small for us considering we’ve slept in a king size bed for years. Maybe that’s why I’m so cranky.
I went to North Bullitt High School with this guy who is now playing guitar in Billy Ray Cyrus’ band. Pretty cool to see him on CMT the other night. I missed him on Regis & Kelly… but I wanted to post that it’s great to see someone so talented doing well at what they love. Good luck to you, Mooch!
