Last week, I had one big job interview. It was a managing editor position. I thought the interview went well, but I did not get a call back from them on Wednesday (as they had promised they would do *if* I would be asked back for a second interview). I also had an hour-long phone interview for a technical writing job. I received a call from my recruiter the following day that the writer whom had interviewed me loved my personality, but the hiring manager didn't think I was qualified since my writing samples weren't technical enough. *sigh* I've kind of been feeling down every since. Dave still hasn't found a job. And I can't seem to score one either! I know I'm qualified. I know I can do these jobs. What is it about me that people aren't willing to take a chance? I perhaps the fact that I've not worked in 5 years. Oh well. Maybe I will get a call for an interview from that Hotel Housekeeping Manager job I applied for...
Two more jobs I’m not going to be doing
New Balance Elmo Sneakers
We're up early watching cartoon network. I haven't quite finished my coffee. Lola is drinking her milk and climbs up in my lap. The New Balance "Monster Feet" commercial comes on. They show the Elmo shoes, Grover shoes, Abby Cadabby shoes. Lola points and says "Melmo. Me. Shoes!!! Birfday." So in Lola speak, I translated that to mean "I want Elmo shoes for my birthday." So I say "Do you want Elmo shoes for your birthday?" And she emphatically replies, "Yeah! Birfday! Me! Melmo soooes!" So now I'm online searching and I no longer see the while Elmo shoes on sale at many places. I saw them at Zappos.com. Guess I'll have to pay the $50 for them for her. I mean, how can I say no, now that she asked for them?
Note to my kids
Always hold your head up high. Don't ever let anyone make you feel like you are beneath them. Who cares what they think? Later in life you will only realize that they were just trying to make themselves feel more powerful at your expense. You are you. Be proud of that.
Notes to my kids
I saw a site where a woman wrote notes to her teenage daughter (which she would never have). It got me thinking. Maybe I should start making notes of things for my kids for later in their lives. Hmm. I shall start thinking and record my thoughts soon. Those of you with children, consider doing the same.
KidStuff Sale In Indiana this weekend!
To all of you moms (and people who know and love kids), I just wanted to let you know that the KidStuff Consignment sale will be held this weekend at the National Guard Armory in New Albany, IN. I'm consigning there--as usual--and there will be tons of great clothing items, toys, housewares, etc. Come on by. Get some great deals! I always pick up a ton of play clothes for my kids for summer there. It's a great way to save money, plus--reusing and recycling saves our landfills from overfilling and saves on natural resources consumed in producing new goods. In my opinion, if it's not worn out, use it again!
